Indesign for creatives
You do the design - they do the words. You will need to know how to import layered artwork from Illustrator and Photoshop, flow and link text, manage spot and process colours, pre-flight your artwork and make all the high res stuff work - unless you are lucky enough to have a production department of course. The key to good InDesign is linking as much as possible to globally changeable settings - ie. link your colours and blends to swatches, link your text to style sheets and link objects to object styles.
Indesign for writers
You do the words - they do the design. You need to know how to import text, flow it into the columns, spell check in 'English', cheat the text to fit using proper techniques not just squeezing the last paragraph badly, re-size pictures, navigate through pages, use the Story Editor and apply text and object style sheets.
All courses cover the major features of InDesign - in addition you will receive information on additional resources to support your training, 3 months telephone support as well as a 3 month free subscription to talentedpixie.com online training videos. Prices start from £300 plus VAT per day.
